Provided is a knitted fabric knitting method that enables the stitches of any stitch row to be in a dense state. It is a knitted fabric knitting method for knitting a knitted fabric, using a flat knitting machine provided with a plurality of needle beds facing each other, a yarn feeder configured to supply a knitting yarn between the plurality of needle beds, and a movable gripper configured to grip the knitting yarn, the movable gripper being configured to be movable in a direction along a length of the plurality of needle beds, characterized by comprising following steps A to C: a step A of knitting a first stitch row, which is part of the knitted fabric, using the yarn feeder; a step B of gripping, using the movable gripper, the knitting yarn extending from the first stitch row outward of a knitting range of the first stitch row, the step B being performed before or after the step A; and a step C of applying tension to the knitting yarn extending between the movable gripper and the first stitch row.

A yarn re-gripping method and a flat knitting machine capable of suppressing a yarn gripped by a gripper from having a long tail are provided. A yarn re-gripping method includes: a first re-gripping step of moving a standby yarn being gripped by a first gripper (2) provided on an opposite side of the needle bed with respect to a cutter (46), and causing a second gripper (49) provided on the side of the needle bed of the cutter (46) to grip the standby yarn; a second re-gripping step of moving the standby yarn to the opposite side of the needle bed, and causing the first gripper (2) to grip the standby yarn; a cutting step of causing the cutter (46) to cut the standby yarn; and at least one of a threading step and a yarn clipping step, the threading step including: causing a yarn feeder (120) to move the working yarn to be threaded and being gripped by the first gripper (2) and causing the second gripper (49) to grip the working yarn or causing a knitting needle (111) to catch the working yarn; and the yarn clipping step including: moving the working yarn to be clipped to a position permitting the first gripper (2) to grip the working yarn; causing the first gripper (2) to grip the working yarn; and then cutting the working yarn.

It is an object is to provide a flatbed knitting machine having more options of knitting operation and providing excellent knitting efficiency in the knitting operation in a mixed manner. An entry-side needle selection mechanism 11 is configured to act on and guide a selector 7 of a knitting needle 3 along one of paths 7A, 7H, 7B and perform selection out of an A-position, an H-position, and a B-position for a selection butt 6b of a select jack 6 of the knitting needle 3 as a first target of acting by a cam system 2. An engaging part of the selector 7 and the select jack 6 are replaceable. A select jack lowering cam 18 lowers the select jack 6 from the A-position to the H-position. A selection of the A-position or the H-position by the entry-side needle selection mechanism 11 allows the selection of a F-position which is closer to a needle bed gap than the A-position in a direction of advancing to the needle bed gap, in addition to the H-position and the A-position, by an intermediate needle selection mechanism 12, resulting in providing excellent knitting efficiency with a larger number of types of available knitting operation in one knitting course.

There is provided a cleaning apparatus for a needle bed of compound needles that is capable of reliably and efficiently clean a needle bed of a flatbed knitting needle machine equipped with compound needles.A needle bed 2, removed from a flatbed knitting machine and attached to a cleaning bath 3 of a cleaning apparatus for needle bed 1, is cleaned with a liquid such as a cleaning liquid or water sprayed from a nozzle 4. The nozzle 4 is attached to a head 5 that is movable along the surface of the needle bed 2. The compound needles are accommodated in needle grooves of the needle bed 2. While holding positions of sliders, spraying the liquid from the nozzle 4 onto butts for driving needle bodies to move the needle bodies with respect to needle grooves makes it possible to clean the needle bed 2 reliably and efficiently, switching relative positions of the needle bodies and the sliders.

Regarding the knit data for at least two sizes, characteristic points specifying shapes of the knitted products and intermediate shapes specifying shapes of the knitted products between the characteristic points are generated. By interpolating or extrapolating the characteristic points and the intermediate shapes, according to a desired size of the knitted products, characteristic points and intermediate shapes for the desired size are generated. Closed loops are generated by connecting the characteristic points and the intermediate shapes, and knit data for the desired size is generated by allocating knitted stitches within patterns specified by the closed loops. Without pattern data for intermediate sizes, knit data for the intermediate sizes are generated from the two size knit data.
