An object is to provide a flatbed knitting machine capable of forming a not-too-long sinker loop in half gauge knitting, and preventing knitting yarn from being captured by a hook of an unused knitting needle.A flatbed knitting machine 1 includes basic sinkers 5 and concave sinkers 6 arranged alternately. A stitch 7 in half gauge knitting includes a needle loop 7a formed by pull-in of a hook 3a and right and left sinker loops 7b adjacent to the needle loop 7a. The left-side sinker loop 7b is formed by the concave sinker 6 followed by the basic sinker 5. The right-side sinker loop 7b is formed directly by the basic sinker 5. In the stitch 7 formed in the half gauge knitting in the conventional manner by a flatbed knitting machine 9 corresponding to all needle knitting, each of the sinker loops 7b is formed by the two basic sinkers 5 in each of the both sides of the knitting needle 3. The flatbed knitting machine 1 is capable of forming the sinker loop 7b which is not longer than the one by the flatbed knitting machine 9. Each of the concave sinkers 6 serves as a wall which closes the hook 3a of the unused knitting needle 3 so as to prevent the knitting yarn from being captured. |

The slider (3) includes a slider body (4) that has a fitting groove (41), an inner blade (5) that is laminar, and has an inner fitting region (50) that is fitted into the fitting groove (41) and is positioned on a bottom (41b) side of the fitting groove (41), an outer blade (6) that is laminar, and has an outer fitting region (60) that is fitted into the fitting groove (41) and is positioned on an opening (41o) side of the fitting groove (41), the outer blade (6) being laid overlapping a surface of the inner blade (5) with part of a surface of the inner fitting region (50) exposed to the outside, and a crimped portion (7) that is constituted by a constituent material of the slider body (4) that was plastically deformed through crimping. The crimped portion (7) includes an inner crimped portion (72) that covers at least part of the exposed part of the inner fitting region (50), and an outer crimped portion (71) that covers part of a surface of the outer fitting region (60). |

The present invention provides a compound needle that has sufficient strength and suppresses the accumulation of waste in a slider groove. The compound needle 1 includes a needle body 2 that has a hook 20 provided at the tip and a slider groove 21 provided in an upper end face, and a slider 3 that is slidably fitted into the slider groove 21 and opens and closes the hook 20. The compound needle 1 also includes a waste discharge window 4 that is formed in a side face of the needle body 2 and is in communication with a portion of the slider groove 21 located on a rear end side in the sliding direction of the slider 3. The waste discharge window 4 has a shape capable of accommodating the rear end of a portion of the slider 3 that slides on a bottom portion 21b of the slider groove 21, when the slider 3 is at the most withdrawn position in the sliding direction. |
