Proposed is a knitted fabric with a high quality pocket which is less likely to lose its shape, and a method of knitting the same. A widening stitch is formed in a pocket branched portion (3) with respect to a base knitted fabric portion (2) to obtain a starting end of a pocket bag portion (4). Thereafter, the base knitted fabric portion (2) and the pocket bag portion (4) are knitted. Furthermore, tubular knitting is carried out using the front and back needle beds at a knitting width corresponding to the pocket bag portion in a region of the stitch row held on the front and back needle beds while forming the base knitted fabric portion, a new stitch held on the front and back needle beds formed in the tubular knitting is transferred to form double stitches in the relevant region, and a new stitch serving as the base knitted fabric portion continuing to the pocket bag portion is formed on the double stitches. A secure two-layer knitted fabric can be formed by knitting a secure tubular base knitted fabric portion (7), so that a high quality pocket that is less likely to lose its shape and that has small a level difference is obtained.

[Problem to be solved] To provide a flatbed knitting machine equipped with movable sinkers, which can prevent increase in stress amplitude of a torque spring when the sinkers are opened and closed even when the movable sinkers are controlled directly by a sinker cam mounted on a carriage. [Solution] A biasing cam surface 13a presses a leading end 12a of a torque spring 12 of which base end 12b is set to a portion between a support receive part 11a and a function arm 11b of a sinker 11 so as to bias the sinker 11 through the torque spring 12. The pressing force can be weakened in an opened state even when it is strengthened in a closed state. A stress of the torque spring 12 in the opened state also does not become larger than that in the closed state, so that an increase in the stress amplitude of the torque spring 12 is prevented when the sinker is opened and closed even with each movable sinker 10 controlled directly by the sinker cam mounted on the carriage.

[Problem to be solved] It is an object of the present invention to provide a flatbed knitting machine, which is provided with compound needles, to be capable of making old stitches hardly to drop into hooks from tongues and also of making a knitting yarn which is to be caught in the hook in order to form a new stitch hardly to get caught on the tongue, and also to provide a method for controlling a slider of the flatbed knitting machine. [Solution] When a needle driving butt 22 is moved along a trajectory 22t and a hook 12a is thereby advanced into a needle bed gap 2, a tongue 13a opens a hook mouth of the hook 12a, so that an old stitch which has been formed in the hook 12a is transferred onto the tongue 13a and cleared from the hook 12a. When the hook 12a is withdrawn toward the needle bed 3, 4 side, a knitting yarn is fed from a yarn feeder port 7a so as to pass within a range through which a hook mouth of the hook 12a passes and caught in the hook 12a. A movable cam mechanism 40 provided in a slider cam 36 can produce a difference d in the position of the tongue 13a by switching action or inaction of a control portion 41a of a cam member 41 on a slider driving butt 23 near a centerline 7c.

There is provided a yarn supplying system capable of maintaining the tensile force of the yarn in a yarn supply path in an appropriate range, and supplying the yarn from the bobbin without slackening of the yarn with a simple configuration. The yarn supplying system includes a yarn storing device (2) and a control means (1C). The yarn storing device (2) includes a storing unit (10) that stores a yarn (3Y) reeled out from a bobbin (3) in the middle of a yarn supply path, a pull-in piece (20), a filament (30), an elastic body (40), and a displacement detector (50). The pull-in piece (20) pulls in the yarn (3Y) toward the storing unit (10) and linearly reciprocates along a pull-in direction. The filament (30) is connected to the pull-in piece (20) and includes a turn back portion (30t) at the middle, and reciprocates by interlocking with the reciprocate movement of the pull-in piece (20) without substantially stretching or contracting. The elastic body (40) is connected to the filament (30). The displacement detector (50) detects displacement of the filament (30) from an origin position. The control means (1C) controls a supply amount of the yarn (3Y) from the bobbin (3) based on the displacement of the filament (30) from the origin position.

A compound needle (1) for a flatbed knitting machine can delay an operation of removing dust from a space (39) on one side of a curved portion (371) of a sliding-resistance application plate (37) by restraining the space from being bulged to the other side by accumulated dust. A slider (3) includes a slider base body (31), two blades (32, 33) supported by the slider base body (31) and extending rearward, a sliding-resistance application plate (37) that extends rearward with a front end extending integrally from one of the blades (32, 33) and that applies a sliding resistance by bringing the curved portion (371) into sliding contact with a needle plate (11), a fixing portion (43) provided in the slider base body (31) to fix a front end of the sliding-resistance application plate (37) from one side, and a sliding contact portion (44) provided in the slider base body (31) such that a rear end of the sliding-resistance application plate (37) is in sliding contact with the sliding contact portion (44) from the one side. The slider base body (31) further includes a connecting portion (311) that extends above the curved portion (371) to connect the fixing portion (43) and the sliding contact portion (44). The connecting portion (311) is cut off on one side of the curved portion (371).
