There is provided a method of operating a security monitoring system of a premises, the method comprising: identifying a vehicle by an imaging means arranged in an exterior part of the premises; detecting a change in one or more vehicle states of the identified vehicle; determining if a user has left the premises within a predetermined time before the detection of the change in the vehicle state; and transmitting an alert signal to one or more devices if no user has left the premises within the predetermined time.

A method for operating a security monitoring system is provided, comprising the steps of capturing (302) images by means of an interior image detection unit arranged within a premises to be monitored by the security monitoring system; recognizing a change in the captured images; and determining (303) if the recognized change is caused by a person. If said change is determined to be caused by a person, the method comprises attempting to identify (304) said person by means of a first identification method. If said person is identified as an authorized person, the method comprises unarming (305) the security monitoring system.

There is provided a method of operating a security monitoring system of a premises, the method comprising: detecting, using one or more imaging means, a first non-human movement in an exterior part of the premises; determining if a notification inhibition criterion is met; storing data relating to the first non-human movement if the notification inhibition criterion is met; and in response to the notification inhibition criterion no longer being met, transmitting a notification to one or more devices, wherein the notification comprises the stored data relating to the first non-human movement.

There is provided a method of operating a security monitoring system of a premises, the method comprising: detecting a person by an imaging means arranged to monitor an exterior part of the premises; and determining, by a radio-based sensing arrangement, if there is motion in an interior part of the premises. A method for operating a security monitoring system is provided, comprising the steps of detecting (301) a movement in an exterior of a premises to be monitored, capturing (302) images by means of an image detection unit arranged in the exterior of the premise, and determining (303) if the detected movement is caused by a person. If said movement is determined to be caused by a person, the method comprises attempting to identify (304) said person by means of at least one of a number of identification methods. If said person is identified as an authorized person, the method comprises disarming (305) the security monitoring system.

There is provided a method of operating a security monitoring system of a premises, the method comprising: identifying an object by an imaging means arranged in an exterior part of the premises; detecting a movement of the object in dependence on one or more images from the imaging means; and transmitting an alert signal to one or more devices.
