Integrated ocean thermal energy conversion and direct ocean carbon dioxide capture systems and related methods provide for extraction of carbon dioxide from seawater for storage and/or sequestration. A method of capturing carbon dioxide includes supplying a flow of warm seawater and a flow of cold seawater to an ocean thermal energy conversion system to generate power. The power generated by the ocean thermal energy conversion system is used to power a CO<2> extraction system to extract CO<2> from a carbon dioxide containing flow of seawater. |

A hull of a floating unit may include a tank with a backbone assembly. The tank may include a top and a floor spaced apart in a depth direction. The tank in a transverse direction may include a middle portion between a first lateral portion and a second lateral portion. The backbone assembly may be positioned in the middle portion and have an upper backbone portion formed in the top and extending inwardly into the tank by a downward distance less than the greatest height of the tank in the depth direction. The upper backbone portion may be spaced from the floor by a gap that separates the upper backbone portion from the floor. The upper backbone portion may withstand bending moment and facilitate a span supporting loads from above the tank. A lower backbone portion may be included and withstand load applied on a hull bottom. |

A system for uniformly distributing a gas flow in a processing chamber of a gas processing column having other than a centered top gas outlet is disclosed. The system may include a gas distribution plate installed within an internal volume of the processing chamber and in a path of a gas flow. The gas distribution plate can include a plurality of gas apertures that are arranged along the gas distribution plate and extend therethrough. An aperture area is defined by the plurality of gas apertures and the gas distribution plate is configured such that the aperture area increases along a first end-to-second end direction of the gas distribution plate. Locating the gas distribution plate in the internal volume of the processing chamber so that the first end of the gas distribution plate is closer to the gas outlet can cause the gas flow through the processing chamber to be uniformly distributed. |

In one example an LNG regasification process includes separating an LNG feed stream into a first rich LNG stream and a second rich LNG stream. The first rich LNG stream may be heated to an at least partially vaporized state and introduced into an absorber, with first and second reflux flows also introduced into the absorber. An overhead stream may be collected from the absorber that is a lean LNG enriched in methane and reduced in ethane relative to an LNG feed stream. The first reflux flow may be the second rich LNG stream, and the second reflux flow may be recycled lean LNG. |

A system and method of generating electrical energy using a fuel cell while decarbonizing an exhaust gas generated by the fuel cell is disclosed. Heat generated by an electrochemical reaction within the fuel cell can be recovered at both an anode side and a cathode side of the fuel cell, and at least some of the recovered heat can be used to preheat each of a natural gas fuel feed and an oxidant supplied to the fuel cell. A carbon capture system may be included and used to capture and liquefy carbon dioxide present in an anodic exhaust gas emitted by the fuel cell. The liquefaction subsystem of the carbon capture system may utilize liquefied natural gas from which the natural gas fuel feed is derived as a cooling media for liquefying captured and compressed carbon dioxide. |

Zusammenfassung
A system and method for decarbonizing ammonia production is disclosed. A system may generate a synthesis gas from a hydrocarbon and subsequently produce ammonia from the synthesis gas. The system may include a recuperative reformer for generating a first reformate from the hydrocarbon, and a downstream autothermal reformer for receiving the first reformate and generating a second reformate that can be further processed and synthesized into ammonia. Carbon dioxide emissions associated with producing the ammonia can be reduced by recovering heat in the recuperative reformer and returning recovered heat to the reforming reaction. This can reduce the duty of the recuperative reformer and correspondingly, the required heat output and associated firing of a combustion-based heat source used to provide heat to the recuperative reformer. Hydrogen from an external source can be added to the reformate stream to maintain a desirable hydrogen-to-nitrogen ratio thereof. The hydrogen can be green hydrogen. |
