The invention provides a combination of a lifting airframe (13) and at least one carriage (15) to perform a flying operation with the carriage (15) coupled to the lifting airframe (13). The lifting airframe (13) comprises lifting surfaces including movable components driven by actuators, and propulsion means for allowing air transportation of said carriage (15) when coupled to the lifting airframe (13). The carriage (15) has a tubular fuselage-like shape with a vertical plane of symmetry. The lifting airframe (13) and the carriage (15) comprise cooperating means for coupling/decoupling the carriage (15) to/from the lifting airframe (13). The carriage (15) comprises at least a passenger cabin and/or a cargo compartment and landing gears. The invention also provides a method of air transportation of passengers and/or cargo using said combination. |

Method for ultrasonic welding of a titanium based component (1) to a carbon-fibre reinforced plastic, CFRP, component (2). It comprises overlapping a first sheet component (2) with a second sheet component (1) at an overlap region, the first sheet component (2) comprising CRFP and the second sheet component (1) comprising titanium or a titanium alloy, placing the overlap region between an anvil (4) and a sonotrode (5) of an ultrasonic welding apparatus (20), exciting the sonotrode (5) with ultrasonic oscillations (u) parallel to the surface of the second sheet component (1), while exerting a predeterminable clamping force (F) on the sonotrode (5) perpendicular to the second sheet component (1), and creating a welding joint (3) between the first sheet component (2) and the second sheet component (1) at the overlap region by maintaining the ultrasonic oscillations (u) and the clamping force (F) for a predeterminable time span. |

A silencer (2) for an auxiliary power unit of an aircraft comprises an inlet (4), an outlet (6), a housing (8), and a flow channel (10), arranged in the housing, comprising a porous wall material. Between the housing and the flow channel an intermediate space is created that by means of one or several outer partitions (12) is divided into outer cells (14) arranged around the flow channel. Furthermore, there is a central body (20) that comprises a casing (26) that is permeable to gas at least in some regions and that is arranged in the interior of the silencer. The central body comprises inner partitions (22) that divide the central body into inner cells (24). The resonance frequency of the inner cells corresponds to the natural frequency of the first radial mode in a channel formed between the central body and the inner surface of the inlet. In this manner particularly good sound attenuation is achieved with a compact installation space of a silencer. |
