Usually, on such storage grids, a rail system is provided on which one or more container-handling vehicles travel and perform any storage/retrieval operations concerning the aforementioned storage containers. The grid base comprises a plurality of height-adjustable foot devices which support a number of grid base rails over a floor. Since the foot devices are height-adjustable, the automated storage and retrieval system maybe stably assembled on a relatively uneven floor. Further, in this manner, the storage containers, or stacks thereof, may be supported on a virtually perfectly horizontal plane defined by said grid base rails, which facilitates the automated storage and/or retrieval operations performed by the container handling vehicles. |
