Zusammenfassung
A thermoplastic composition includes: (a) from about 82 wt% to about 92 wt% of a thermoplastic resin including poly(phenylene ether) and polystyrene; and (b) from about 3 wt% to about 13 wt% of a carbon-based filler. The carbon-based filler has a specific surface area of at least 650 square meters per gram (m<2>/g) and an Oil Absorption Number of at least 250 milliliter per 100 gram (ml/100g). The composition has a dielectric constant ε' of between 3.5 and 10 and a dissipation loss ε" of between 0.25 and 5, as measured at a frequency of between about 75 gigahertz (GHz) and about 110 GHz. A 1/8-inch-thick molded sample of the composition exhibits a Percent Absorbed Power measured in Transmission mode of at least 50% when observed according to a Free Space method at frequencies from about 75 GHz to about 110 GHz. |

A process for the purification of an oxydiphthalic anhydride includes contacting a mixture of an oxydiphthalic anhydride and at least one of the corresponding oxydiphthalic diacid, a corresponding oxydiphthalic tetraacid, a halophthalic anhydride, and a catalyst with a solvent to provide a slurry. The solvent is capable of solubilizing the corresponding oxydiphthalic diacid, the corresponding oxydiphthalic tetraacid, the halophthalic anhydride, and the catalyst at a temperature of 15 to 50°C, and the oxydiphthalic anhydride is substantially insoluble in the solvent at this temperature. The oxydiphthalic anhydride can be isolated from the slurry. A purified oxydiphthalic anhydride and a polyetherimide prepared therefrom are also disclosed. |

Thermoplastic compositions include: (a) from about 5 wt% to about 95 wt% of at least one recycled polycarbonate; and (b) from about 0.01 wt% to about 2 wt% of an acid quencher. The at least one recycled polycarbonate may include in some aspects a post-consumer recycled (PCR) polycarbonate. In certain aspects the acid quencher includes mono zinc phosphate (MZP), a liquid solution comprising phosphorous acid, or a combination thereof. The compositions have improved hydro-aging properties as compared to conventional compositions that include recycled polycarbonate. |
