A system for storing and querying BGP routing data. The system comprises a relational database (330) comprising a set of tables configured to store lossless compressed BGP routing data. The system comprises an API (320) configured to generate Database queries to the relational database. The API provides entry points corresponding respectively to primitive functions. The API is adapted to convert a call to any of the primitive functions into at least one database query to one or more of the set of tables.
