The present invention relates to computer-implemented methods and systems for characterising the microstructural composition of a blood vessel and the pathological features therein, utilising magnetic resonance quantitative susceptibility mapping and machine learning or Al models. Methods and systems providing explainable quantitative rupture risk assessment of plaques and aneurysm in target blood vessels, particularly carotid arteries, are disclosed. An advantage of the invention is to provide explainable plaque and aneurysm rupture, risk scores based on a single measurement sequence, resulting in a cost, time, and resource efficient risk assessment. |

One aspect of the invention provides a method of contraception by administering to a female subject a composition comprising Mullerian inhibiting substance (MIS). The MIS can be produced endogenously in the subject by a vector, where the vector comprises a polynucletide encoding a recombinant MIS protein. In some embodiments, the contraception is permanent and only requires administration of the composition once. Another aspect of the invention relates to a method of preserving an ovarian reserve, the method comprising administering to a female subject a composition comprising MIS or an inducible vector that comprises a polynucleotide encoding a recombinant MIS protein. |

A method of forming a composition comprising a probiotic encapsulated in a denatured plant protein matrix, comprises the steps of preparing a protein suspension comprising denatured plant protein, preparing a suspension of hydrated probiotic, combining the protein suspension and the suspension of hydrated probiotic to encapsulate the probiotic in a denatured pea protein matrix, and polymerising the denatured plant protein matrix with a calcium salt. The combining step may comprise extruding the protein suspension and the suspension of hydrated probiotic to form microdroplets, in which the polymerisation step comprises curing the extruded microdroplets in a curing bath comprising a calcium citrate buffer having a pH of 5 to 6.5 and a molarity of 0.05 to 0.15 M. The combining step may also comprise mixing the protein suspension and probiotic suspension to form a mixture, adding a calcium salt buffer to the mixture to gel the mixture, and drying the gelled mixture by freeze-drying or vacuum drying. |

A system and method of generating a model M that can detect or predict the predisposition to an outcome, for example a person's predisposition to developing a health condition such as preeclampsia, with a positive or/and negative predictive value better or equal to a predefined predictive value target, where the method factors in the impact of prevalence on test performance. The system and method employ an iterative population segregation methodology, involving at least two population segregations steps in which each step, independently, employs a probability-defined model. The first segregation step is selected from one of a rule-in probability defined model and a rule-out probability defined model, and the second segregation step is selected from the other of a rule-in probability defined model and a rule-out probability defined model. The present invention overcomes the technical limitations of existing predictive models and provides a solution to achieve a superior predictive model delivering an accurate risk prediction result, and in a less computationally intensive way. By isolating and segmenting particular population subsets according to the invention a much more robust and accurate way of detecting, or predict risk of, an outcome is achieved. |
