In some examples, a capillary connection fitting may include a screw drive, and a screw rotatable by the screw drive and insertable in a port. A spring-loaded disc may be operatively disposed between the screw drive and the screw, and rotatable by the screw drive to impart, by the screw, a sealing axial force to seal a capillary tip of a capillary against a port ground of the port.

In some examples, a capillary connection fitting may include a screw drive, and a screw rotatable by the screw drive and insertable in a port. A spring carrier may be operatively disposed between the screw drive and the screw, and movable along an axis of the spring carrier by the screw drive to impart, by the screw, a sealing axial force to seal a capillary tip of a capillary against a port ground of the port.

In some examples, a capillary connection fitting may include a screw drive, and a screw rotatable by the screw drive and insertable in a port. A spring-loaded disc may be operatively disposed between the screw drive and the screw, and axially movable by a socket of a capillary to impart, by the spring-loaded disc, a sealing axial force to seal a capillary tip of the capillary against a port ground of the port.

In some examples, a capillary connection fitting may include a fitting housing that encloses a socket retainer and a spring. A spring compression limiter may include a specified length and is attached to the socket retainer to limit compression of the spring upon movement of the socket retainer to compress the spring.

A scroll pump or pumping system is configured to determine or predict whether a first scroll tip seal and/or a second scroll tip seal is a worn tip seal that should be replaced with a new tip seal. The determination or prediction is based on durations of run times during which the scroll pump operates in different, respective pressure ranges of pump inlet pressure, and durations of expected service lives of the scroll tip seals when operating in the respective pressure ranges.

A scroll pump or pumping system is configured to determine whether tip seals of the scroll pump require maintenance such as replacement. During operation of the scroll pump, pump inlet pressure is measured or calculated over a recent time period to acquire recent pump data. The recent pump data is compared to historical pump data, which is or includes pump inlet pressure measured over a historical time period preceding the recent time period. Based on the comparison, a determination is made as to whether tip seal maintenance for the scroll pump and/or further diagnosis of the scroll pump is required. If so, a user-interpretable output may be produced, indicating that tip seal maintenance and/or further diagnosis is required.
