An input current (I in ) is transformed into an output integrated voltage (V out_int ) using a parallel connection of an operational transconductance amplifier and an integration capacitor. The output integrated voltage is reduced by repeatedly discharging the integration capacitor through a feedback loop via a digital-to-analog converter generating feedback pulses, a feedback clock period (T clk_DAC ) defining time intervals between successive rising edges of the feedback pulses. Sampling is performed during an extended feedback clock period (T*) after a lapse of a plurality of feedback clock periods (T clk_DAC ). |

A method for light-to-frequency conversion comprises generating a photocurrent (IPD) by means of a photodiode (11) and converting the photocurrent (IPD) into a digital comparator output signal (LOUT) in a charge balancing operation depending on a first clock signal (CLK1). From the digital comparator output signal (LOUT) an asynchronous count (C1) is determined and comprises an integer number of counts depending on the first clock signal (CLK1). From the digital comparator output signal (LOUT) a fractional time count (C2) is determined and depends on a second clock signal (CLK2). Finally, from the asynchronous count (C1) and from the fractional time count (C2) a digital output signal (ADC-COUNT) is calculated which is indicative of the photocurrent generated by the photodiode (11). The method may be carried out by an exemplary light-to-frequency converter equipped with a photodiode. |

The microphone comprises a housing (1, 2), which has an inner volume (12) filled with a gas, an opening (10) of the housing, an acoustic sensor (3) arranged in the housing, a diaphragm (13) of the acoustic sensor located above the opening, and a heater (14) in the inner volume. The acoustic sensor may especially comprise a microelectromechanical system. The gas is heated from inside the inner volume to increase the pressure and generate a corresponding signal of the acoustic sensor (3). This signal can be used for self-calibration of the sensitivity or for self-diagnostics to check the function of the microphone. |

Zusammenfassung
The sensor has at least two membranes of which one membrane is sealed and one other membrane has an opening to ambient pressure, and functions as a reference device. The sealed membrane deflects as function of pressure whereas the deflection of the "open" membrane remains unaltered. The reference device enables determination of relevant calibration parameters such as capacitance offset, dC/dP, parasitic capacitance, membrane stiffness, back side pressure. This then enables an accurate capacitance pressure function to be obtained with only two calibration points and without needing to control pressure levels. |
