The present invention relates to a computer-implemented method for determining a global cardiovascular/hemodynamic parameter of a subject, comprising: a) receiving data representative of non-invasive and optical measurements of microvascular local blood flow of a muscle or tissue of a current subject, previously acquired by optical techniques based on laser speckle statistics, wherein that muscle or tissue is in a non-compartmentalized area and has a limited autoregulatory performance where the local blood flow cannot be isolated from that of the systemic one; b) processing the data received at a); c) determining the global cardiovascular/hemodynamic parameter of the current subject or/and an index originating or representative of the global cardiovascular/hemodynamic parameter, based on the result of step b); and d) providing the determined global cardiovascular/hemodynamic parameter or/and the determined index. The present invention also relates to a system and a computer program implementing the method of the invention.

Disclosed herein are novel compounds comprising antisense oligonucleotides that regulate the splicing of NUMB. In particular, an antisense oligonucleotide for reducing inclusion of NUMB exon 9 in a population of mature NUMB transcripts is provided. The antisense oligonucleotide comprises a sequence of at least 7 nucleotides that is complementary to a target region within exon 9 of a NUMB transcript. Particularly, the oligonucleotide is a modified RNA or a modified DNA molecule. Pharmaceutical compositions comprising the antisense oligonucleotide and oligonucleotides for use in treating a proliferative disease using the compounds or compositions of the invention are also described.

A method of exchanging private communication in a network system, the network system including at least two communication units, and a central station; each communication unit including a photon source, a beam splitter, and a measurement device; the central station including a further beam splitter and two photo detectors; the method comprising: for each communication unit, preparing, by the communication unit, a photon; sending the prepared photon to the beam splitter of the communication unit, the beam splitter defining two optical modes; sending one of the two optical modes to the central station; sending the other one of the two optical modes to the measurement device of the communication unit; combining, at the central station, the optical modes received from each communication unit using the further beam splitter, the further beam splitter providing two output modes; measuring, by the two photo detectors, the output modes provided by the further beam splitter; in case exactly one of the two photo detectors clicks, announcing the result of the measurement, thereby preparing a single-photon entangled state for the respective other one of the two optical modes of each communication unit; measuring the other one of the two optical modes by the respective measurement device of each communication unit, to observe a violation of a Bell inequality; and generating a secret key based on the observed Bell non-local correlations.
