The invention relates to a contact bridge arrangement (1) for a switching device (2), such as a relay or a contactor, as well as to such a contact bridge arrangement. The contact bridge arrangement comprises a first contact bridge (4) which is movable along a switching direction (14) between an open position (64) and a closed position (74) and which comprises a section for connecting to a drive system (18) and at least two switching contacts (10) spaced from one another. Furthermore provided is a second contact bridge (6) with at least two auxiliary switching contacts (12) spaced from one another. In addition, two fixed-contact assemblies (28, 30) are provided which are located in the switching direction (14) between the first and the second contact bridge (4, 6), where each of the two fixed-contact assemblies comprises at least one fixed contact (34) for contacting a switching contact (10) and at least one fixed contact (36) for contacting an auxiliary switching contact (12). In the open position (649), the fixed contacts (34, 36), the switching contacts (10) and the auxiliary switching contacts (12) are disengaged from each other and, in the closed position (74), the at least one fixed contact (34) of one of the two fixed-contact assemblies (28, 30) electrically contacts a switching contact (10) and the other at least one fixed contact (36) of this one fixed-contact arrangement (28, 30) electrically contacts an auxiliary switching contact (12). In the closed position (64), this arrangement generates a magnetic force that presses the contacts (10, 34, 36, 12) together and counteracts a repulsion force acting between these contacts in the event of a short circuit. |

Such a contact arrangement or switching device reduces the risk of the contact bridge lifting in the event of a short circuit and thus the formation of arcs. |
