An electrical connector assembly (100) includes an outer housing (200) holding first and second electrical connectors (120, 150) and a CPA device (300). The CPA device is movable between a pre-stage position and a seated position and includes a main body (310), a first CPA element (320) configured to interface with a first latch (240) and the first electrical connector, and a second CPA element (350) configured to interface with a second latch (260) and the second electrical connector. Movement of the CPA device into the seated position provides a mechanical indication that both the first and second electrical connectors are properly positioned within the outer housing and movement of the CPA device is prevented when at least one of the first and second electrical connectors are not fully inserted in the outer housing.
