The invention is based on coating a sample carrier or a lid with a low surface energy coating. It pertains to the coated sample carrier or lid, and to a method of preparing said sample carrier or lid and to their uses. The low-surface energy coating of the invention results in a decreased adherence of immersion fluid to the coated surface of the lid or sample carrier. This makes them particularly useful in immersion-based applications such as immersion microscopy, spectroscopy and/or lithography, in which an immersion objective is in relative motion with the sample carrier or lid. |
