The airbag cushion 114 includes a main chamber 120 that expands and deploys from an area above the console box 130 to an area to the side of the console box 130 on the first seat 102 side, and a sub-chamber 122 that protrudes from a part of the main chamber 120 above the console box 130 towards the second seat 128 side and expands and deploys to an area to the side of the console box 130 on the second seat 128 side. |

ABSTRACT: To provide a safety device for vehicle seats that can adequately absorb the energy applied to the seat back. The safety device of the present invention includes a collision sensor for detecting vehicle collisions, an energy absorption mechanism for absorbing the impact applied to the vehicle seat, and a control mechanism for controlling operation or non-operation of the energy absorption mechanism based on the output of the collision sensor. The energy absorption mechanism 120 includes a rotatable plate 152 that rotates in conjunction with the rotation of the seat back of the vehicle seat, and a plastic deformation element 150 that is rotatably mounted together with the rotatable plate 152 and undergoes plastic deformation in conjunction with the rotation of the rotatable plate 152. In the event of the vehicle being in a collision, based on an activation signal from the control mechanism, the stopper unit 156 releases the connection between the worm wheel 118 and the rotatable plate 152, and energy is absorbed as the plastic deformation element 150 rotates and plastically deforms while passing through the insert element 154. |

Abstract: PROBLEMTo provide a vehicle airbag device that achieves both an improvement in occupant restraining force and a reduction in burden on a windshield.RESOLUTION MEANSThe airbag cushion 108 includes an inflator connection part 118, a main expansion part 120 formed in a vehicle-rearward location from the inflator connection part 118, a front contact part 122 that expands from the inflator connection part 118 along an upper surface 102a of an instrument panel 102, a cushion upper surface part 126 formed in a state separated from the windshield 114, a front protection part 128 of the main expansion part 120 that restrains the occupant 112 from a vehicle-forward location, and a pair of rearward protruding parts 130 and 132 that protrude from both sides of the front protection part 128 in the vehicle width direction toward the rear of the vehicle. The airbag cushion 108 maintains a self-supporting orientation when the front contact part 122 contacts an upper surface 102a of the instrument panel 102 and the main expansion part 120 contacts a rear surface 102b of the instrument panel 102. |

A safety device in a vehicle is provided. The safety device comprises an actuator (100; 100') comprising a housing (1; 1'), a piston arrangement (12; 12') fitted in the housing and being movable from a retracted position to an extended position, a gas generator (10; 10') and a power connector (8; 8') configured to allow powering of the gas generator. The housing has a first end (2; 2') having a through-going opening (5; 5') and an internal surface encircling the through-going opening and forming a seating (19; 19'). The gas generator (10; 10') is connected to a support member (9; 9'). The power connector is situated on the outside of the housing on the first end thereof and connected to the gas generator. The support member is abutting the seating thereby closing the through-going opening in the housing and forming a first sealing arrangement preventing intrusion of moisture and/or dust into the housing. |
