The present invention relates a slave module (1) for a modular controller system (100) including a master module (50) and employing an industrial network (90). The slave module (1) comprises a processing unit (10) and a network adapter (20) coupled to the processing unit (10). In order to facilitate the commissioning of the controller system (100) and to allow using a cost-efficient and performant network (90), the slave module (1) includes a separate status input connector (30) and a separate status output connector (40), each coupled to the processing unit (10). In an enumeration state, the slave module (1) sends, upon the processor unit (10) sensing that a trigger voltage is applied at the status input connector (30), a presentation message to a master module (50) via its network adapter (20) and the network (90). Further, it applies in the enumeration state, upon receiving a registration response from the master module (50) at the network adapter (20), a trigger voltage at the status output connector (40) by means of the processing unit (10). The present invention further relates to a controller system (100) and to a method for the iterative registration of slave modules (1) of a modular controller system (100).

A device (10) for controlling a system (30) for heating and cooling is provided, the device (10) comprising at least one valve actuator (12) for a valve (14) of a bypass line (16) of the system (30), and a flow measuring device (20) for a return line (18) of the system (30), the return line (18) leading a combined flow from the bypass line (16) and a heating or cooling device return line (32) from at least one heating or cooling device (22) to at least one thermal energy source (24), the flow measuring device (20) being configured to determine and provide at least one actual flow value of the combined flow, wherein the valve actuator (12) is configured to receive the actual flow value and to control the valve (14) based on the actual flow value, the valve actuator and the flow measuring device comprising a direct signal connection between each other, wherein the valve actuator (12) comprises a motor (40) connected to the valve (14) and a processing unit (42) for receiving the actual flow value and for providing at least one motor position value for the motor (40) based on the actual flow value, wherein the processing unit (42) comprises a PID controller (38) to control the valve (14), the input of the PID controller being the difference between a minimum flow value and the actual flow value, the output of the PID controller being a calculated set point flow value. The device (30) to control a system for heating or cooling is easier to handle and has reduced costs.

The present invention provides a plate heat exchanger comprising: a plurality of heat transfer plates stacked in a first direction; first and second fluid channels formed between adjacent heat transfer plates and fluidly isolated from each other; and fluid barrier structure, which forms an isolation area in the first fluid channel so that the isolation area of the first fluid channel is fluidly isolated from the remaining areas of the first fluid channel. By adopting the fluid barrier structure, the performance of the plate heat exchanger is improved.
