Turbine engine systems for interstage particle separation in multistage radial compressors are disclosed. The multistage radial compressor system includes an interstage region positioned between a first stage radial compressor and a second stage radial compressor. The interstage region includes a radially-outward oriented section, a longitudinally-oriented section, and a radially-inward oriented section. The radially-outward oriented section transitions to the longitudinally-oriented section at a first approximately 90-degree bend, and the longitudinally-oriented section transitions to the radially-inward oriented section at a second approximately 90-degree bend. The multistage radial compressor system further includes a particle separation system including an extraction slot and an aspiration slot located downstream from the extraction slot. The particle separation system is positioned along the interstage region outside of the air flow path. The extraction slot fluidly connects with a scavenge plenum, and the aspiration slot allows air from the scavenge plenum to recirculate back into the air flow path.

In some examples, an insert assembly includes an insert, a rivet, and a washer configured to position on a brake disc. The insert is configured to position within a disc slot of the brake disc. The rivet shank is configured extend through a washer hole of the washer and a rivet slot of the insert to secure the insert to the brake disc. The washer is configured to be positioned between the insert and a rivet head of the rivet when the rivet shank extends into the brake disc. The rivet slot is configured to allow for the motion of the insert relative to the rivet in the tangential direction when torque is imparted through the disc slot via the insert. In some examples, the rivet is a solid rivet. In some examples, the rivet head is an orbitally riveted head fabricated using an orbital riveting tool.

A surveillance system includes fixed video cameras and mobile security devices. Each mobile security device includes a mobile video camera, a memory, a transceiver and a controller that is configured to receive instructions from a surveillance system controller to fly to a particular location at which an incident is believed to be occurring and to instruct the mobile video camera to capture video of the incident. In some cases, the controller of the mobile security device is configured to solicit and receive one or more video streams from fixed video cameras that are determined to meet predetermined criteria with respect to the incident, and store the one or more received video streams in the memory. The controller of the mobile security device may subsequently transmit the collected video streams to the surveillance system controller.

For instance, the method may include: responsive to a detection of an object, determining whether the object is a known object or an unknown object based on object features and known objects indicated by vehicle state information and an obstacle database; responsive to a determination that the object is an unknown object, updating the obstacle database with unknown object information and transmitting the unknown object information to an off-board service; receiving a response from the off-board service, the response including a weightage assigned to the unknown object; updating the obstacle database with the weightage assigned to the unknown object; and performing at least one action based on the weightage of the unknown object.

Vehicle systems and methods are provided for monitoring images generated in a redundant system. One method involves extracting characters displayed within a first frame of image data generated by a first processing system for presentation on a first display device, extracting characters displayed within a second image data generated by a second processing system for concurrent presentation on a second display device, and after verifying the displayed characters extracted from the first frame correspond to a measured value for a parameter based on sensor data obtained via a sensing arrangement, verifying whether the displayed characters extracted from the second frame correspond to the displayed characters extracted from the first frame. An alert is generated in response to an absence of a corresponding set of displayed characters extracted from the second frame.

The method further includes determining system intermediate values and system output values that are unambiguously derivable from defined system inputs for the one or more test scenarios. The defined system inputs are defined in the one or more test scenarios and not assumed or default input values. The method further includes determining coverage of one or more functional characteristics of each function of the system under test executed based on the defined system inputs. The method further includes validating the determined system output values that are unambiguously derivable from the defined system inputs.

For instance, a method may include: obtaining a configurable file for an electronic checklist; generating a graphical user interface (GUI) based on the configurable file; displaying the GUI on one of the multiple vehicle displays; receiving a user input on the GUI; and performing a window configuration setting process based on the user input. A compressor of a gas turbine engine includes an impeller having a plurality of impeller blades. The compressor includes a diffuser downstream from the impeller that has a plurality of diffuser blades. Each diffuser blade extends from a hub to a shroud in a spanwise direction, and a leading edge of each diffuser blade is spaced apart from an impeller trailing edge of each of the plurality of impeller blades by a vaneless gap. Each diffuser blade includes a cutback region that extends from proximate the leading edge toward a trailing edge. The cutback region reduces a thickness of each of the diffuser blades such that a throat area defined between adjacent diffuser blades increases in the spanwise direction from the hub to the shroud and the vaneless gap increases in the spanwise direction from the hub to the shroud.
