According to one embodiment, an authentication processing system includes an authentication server and a processing device requiring an account ID for at least some uses. The device has a local storage unit storing an account ID list listing card IDs in association with authenticated account IDs. A processor of the device receives a card ID from a card reader, compares the card ID to the list, permits use of the device when the card ID matches to the list, checks with the authentication server for validation when the card ID does not match with the list, permits use of the device if the card ID is validated by the server, then adds the card ID to the local account list, and regularly requests an updated account ID list from the server to be used as the local account list.

According to an embodiment, a wireless tag communication system includes a processing apparatus, a tag communication device, and a controller. The processing apparatus includes a conveyance device that conveys a sheet provided with a wireless tag. The tag communication device performs detection processing of the wireless tag of the sheet conveyed and writing processing of information on the wireless tag. The controller causes the tag communication device to execute the writing processing after the conveyance device has started to convey the sheet and a predetermined waiting time has elapsed.

According to an embodiment, an information processing server for an information processing system for managing automated workflows to prevent leakage of sensitive information includes a communication interface connectable to a network, a storage unit, and a processor. The processor is configured to acquire workflow definition data that defines processes or tasks to be performed when a workflow corresponding to the workflow definition data is executed. The definition data may include an authentication information area in which user authentication information has been set, such as for the purposes of accessing a cloud-service storage account or the like. The processor generates, based on the workflow definition data, a workflow template including an authentication information area from which the user authentication information has been cleared, and then outputs the workflow template to be used by other users or the like.

According to one embodiment, when a monitoring unit detects a cloud trigger event, a management unit of an automated workflow management system transmits, to an execution unit, a workflow corresponding to the cloud trigger event, a permission necessity setting received from an administrator and indicating whether permission is required before executing the workflow, permitter designating information received from the administrator and indicating a permitter who can grant permission, and a cloud workflow execution request indicating the workflow execution request was triggered by the cloud trigger event. The execution unit executes the workflow based on the permission necessity setting and the permitter designating information.

According to an embodiment, an output apparatus is an output apparatus as a first node in a network including the first node and a second node. The output apparatus generates a directed graph including a first vertex corresponding to a transmission source node of a packet, a second vertex corresponding to a transmission destination node that is a transmission destination of the packet of the transmission source node, and an edge having the first vertex as a tail and the second vertex as a head.

An image forming device and a document management system enable a user to give an instruction to execute processing such as printing of a document are provided. An image forming device includes a display device, a communication interface, and a processor. The display device displays an image. The communication interface communicates via a network to which an external device including a management server connects. The processor causes the display device to display an image showing identification information generated, inquires about storage place information of a document linked to the identification information, from the management server, and downloads a document stored in a storage place indicated by the storage place information in response to acquiring the storage place information of the document linked to the identification information.

According to one embodiment, an image forming apparatus includes a storage device for storing a first built-in application to perform a first function, a second built-in application to perform a second function, and a web server application associated with the second built-in application. The apparatus further includes a processor and an operation panel to receive user selections. The processor is configured to receive instructions to execute the first built-in application and the second built-in application in conjunction with first built-in application, execute the first built-in application to perform the first function, activate the web server application associated with the second built-in application, and then, after activating the web server application, execute the second built-in application to perform the second function. According to one embodiment, a license management device and system are provided to facilitate management of a license for a printing device. The license management device includes a first communication interface, a second communication interface, a memory, and a processor. The first communication interface communicates with a management server. The second communication interface communicates with the printing device that has a specific function whose use may be license-restricted but permitted by a license issued by the management server. The memory stores a license management table that stores the license issued by the management server through the first communication interface. The processor provides the printing device with the license stored in the license management table in response to a request from the printing device through the second communication interface.

An information processing system according to an embodiment includes an administrator terminal, a user terminal, and an information processing apparatus. The administrator terminal is used by an administrator to create a workflow template including a mask processing step to mask or redact preset personal information in an electronic document. The user terminal is used to initiate the workflow processing on the user's electronic document. The information processing apparatus can communicate with the administrator terminal and the user terminal via a network, and execute the masking workflow. The information processing apparatus can receive a designation of any word to be a mask target word, and then add the mask target word to the masking workflow to be masked/redacted from the document in addition to the predefined personal information set for the workflow.

According to one embodiment, an automated file processing method includes receiving an electronic document file and a request to process the electronic document file to redact sensitive information in the electronic document file. Text recognition processing is performed on the electronic document file. A masking process is executed to visibly obscure a portion of the electronic document file corresponding to text recognized in the text recognition processing. A text concealment process is executed to delete or replace text in the visibly obscured portion of the electronic document file to prevent electronic recovery or reproduction of original text in the visibly obscured portion. Then, a processed document file is generated from the electronic document file on which the masking process and the text concealment process have been executed.

According to an embodiment, a wireless tag communication system includes a processing apparatus, a tag communication device, and a controller. The processing apparatus includes a conveyance device that conveys a sheet provided with a wireless tag. The tag communication device performs detection processing of the wireless tag of the sheet conveyed and writing processing of information on the wireless tag. The controller causes the tag communication device to execute the writing processing after the conveyance device has started to convey the sheet and a predetermined waiting time has elapsed.

Provided is a printing device capable of performing data communication with a wireless tag provided on a holder that holds a medium used for printing. The printing device can include a shaft, an antenna, a reader, and a controller. The shaft rotatably supports a medium roll configured to have the medium wound around a cylindrical body provided with the wireless tag. The antenna wirelessly communicates with the wireless tag. The reader reads data recorded in the wireless tag by wireless communication via the antenna. The controller causes the reader to perform a second read of the data in the wireless tag after the cylindrical body has been rotated around the shaft for a first rotation time and then has been stopped in response to the reader being unable to read the data recorded in the wireless tag.

In accordance with an embodiment, an information processing apparatus executes an determination operation of determining integrity of a program. In addition, the information processing apparatus determines integrity of a first program that is executed before activation of the determination operation in accordance with the activation of the determination operation and determines integrity of a second program in accordance with execution of the second program that is executed after activation of the determination operation.

According to one embodiment, an image forming apparatus includes a supply unit, a wireless communication unit, a processor, and an image forming unit. The supply unit supplies a medium to which a plurality of wireless tags are attached. The wireless communication unit wirelessly communicates with the plurality of wireless tags corresponding to a plurality of divided regions of the medium. The processor outputs a signal according to a result of communication with the plurality of wireless tags. The image forming unit forms or does not form an image in each divided region based on the output signal.

According to one embodiment, a document processing device has a user database in which user identifications are associated with custom words and keywords to be used in a sensitive information redaction processing. A processor acquires a user identification and an electronic document, causes a text recognition processing to be performed and acquires text recognition results data. The processor then identifies a keyword and any keyword-related words in the text recognition data. The keyword-related word has a predefined positional relationship to the keyword. The keyword-related word can be added to a custom word list. A list of personal information words in the electronic document is acquired and compared to words from the text recognition data. The text recognition words are then compared to the custom word list and words that are either deemed personal information or equivalent to a custom word are set for masking.

According to one embodiment, an extracted keyword setting method that eliminates complicated work in a profile setting for character recognition is provided. A profile setting method for character recognition of a server includes extracting one or more keywords from a result of character recognition processing on a document and displaying the extracted keywords in a selectable manner on a screen of an information processing device. The server accepts a keyword setting from the information processing device such that a keyword will be extracted from a document in subsequent processing based on the selected keyword(s). For example, a keyword in this context may be such things as section headings, titles, and/or information labels.

According to one embodiment, a product registration system includes a mobile terminal connected to a network to permit a customer to perform product registration operations on products for sale at a store, a store clerk terminal for monitoring customer transactions, a cart control server to register products in a transaction table in response to a product registrations performed with the mobile terminal, and the mobile terminal to display a product registration screen. The cart control server also cause the mobile terminal to display a customer facial image captured by a camera of the mobile terminal or a basket image of a cart to which the mobile terminal is attached and transmits a warning notification to the store clerk terminal when a switching operation is performed to turn off the displaying of the customer facial image or the basket image on the display screen of the mobile terminal.

A printer includes a roller that conveys a recording medium; a motor that rotates the roller; a print head that prints receipts on the recording medium conveyed by the roller; a storage device that stores receipt length information including receipt lengths of a predetermined number of printed receipts; a memory; and a processor configured to execute a program that is stored in the memory to perform the steps of: calculating a representative receipt length based on the receipt lengths in the receipt length information, determining a maximum conveying speed of the recording medium for a receipt to be printed based on the representative receipt length, and controlling the motor to rotate the roller to convey the recording medium based on the maximum conveying speed.

A system includes a POS terminal, a sensing device, an information terminal, and a management terminal. The sensing device captures image data of a customer performing an item registration process and a payment process at the POS terminal, The information terminal performs a fraud detection process that includes acquiring the image data from the sensing device, changing a threshold from an initial threshold value in response to detection of a threshold change event during the item registration process or the payment process, detecting specific behavior of the customer from the image data by using an image recognition technique, incrementing a fraud score each time the specific behavior of the customer is detected, determining that the customer has performed a fraudulent activity when the fraud score exceeds the threshold, and transmitting a notification indicating the fraudulent activity to at least one of the POS terminal and the management terminal.

A monitoring device includes a network interface; a memory; and a processor configured to execute a program stored in the memory to perform: acquiring activity information related to an item to be purchased by a customer and received via the network interface from a self-service point of sale (POS) terminal together with identification information of the POS terminal, the activity information including scan information related to scanning of the item by a scanner of the POS terminal and a video obtained by capturing an activity related to the item and performed by the customer at the POS terminal, detecting a position and a head orientation of the customer from the video, determining whether the customer is committing fraud based on the activity information and the position and the head orientation of the customer, and upon determining that the customer is committing fraud, causing the POS terminal to issue a notification.

A printer (10) includes a thermal head (1) including multiple heating elements arranged in a line; a memory; and a processor (11) configured to execute a program stored in the memory to perform the steps of: obtaining print data to be printed, determining a characteristic of the print data, and controlling the thermal head to print the print data line by line using thermal history control based on the determined characteristic of the print data. The thermal history control controls an amount of heat to be generated by each of the heating elements considering an amount of heat that has been stored in the each of the heating elements during a process of printing the print data.

An information processing device includes first and second non-volatile memories, a volatile memory, and a controller configured to perform the steps of: when the information processing device is started, storing, in the first non-volatile memory, startup log data of the information processing device up to a first predetermined size, when the information processing device is restarted, storing, in the first non-volatile memory, restart log data of the information processing device up to a second predetermined size greater than the first predetermined size, cyclically storing process log data of the information processing device in the volatile memory up to a third predetermined size in an overwriting manner, the process log data chronologically following the startup log data or the restart log data; and when the information processing device is terminated, moving the process log data to the second non-volatile memory.

According to one embodiment, an information processing system includes a network, a workflow creation server accessible to a plurality of user terminals via the network, and a user setting server storing user settings for users of the user terminals. The workflow creation server creates a workflow plan in response to an operation of a workflow creator at a creator terminal. The workflow plan includes a step or process involving accessing a cloud service using a first cloud service account. The user setting terminal registers a second cloud service account for accessing the cloud service in response to an instruction from a user at a user terminal. The second cloud service account is associated with the user. When the workflow plan is executed by the user via the network, the second cloud service account is used for accessing the cloud service instead of the first cloud service account.

According to one embodiment, an information processing system includes a receiving unit, an OCR execution unit, a management unit, an extraction unit, a correction candidate output unit, and a correction acceptance unit. The receiving unit receives image information. The OCR execution unit performs character recognition on the image information using OCR. The management unit stores definition data that defines a workflow based on the image information. The extraction unit extracts a usage item handled in the workflow from the definition data. The correction candidate output unit extracts a value corresponding to the usage item from a recognition result obtained by the OCR execution unit and outputs the value as a correction candidate. The correction acceptance unit accepts a correction for the correction candidate.

According to one embodiment, an information processing system includes a first storage unit that stores user information for each notification destination user and a creation unit that creates a workflow plan including a notification destination user to be used for notifications required in the workflow plan. The workflow plan is executable by a system user without requiring the user to provide user information. A second storage unit stores the workflow plan created by the creation unit. An execution unit is provided such that, when execution of the workflow plan stored in the second storage unit begins, user information of the notification destination user set in the workflow plan as the notification destination is acquired from the first storage unit and a notification to the notification destination user is sent in accordance with the acquired user information and the workflow plan.

According to one embodiment, a printer includes: a printing unit configured to print on a medium (such as a sheet); an optical sensor configured to receive reflected light from the medium irradiated with a predetermined light before printing; and a concentration setting unit configured to set a print concentration of a group corresponding to a type of the medium on the basis of an output value which is output by the optical sensor receiving the reflected light.

According to one embodiment, an image reading device, such as a document scanner or the like, includes a scanner unit configured to provide an image of a document and a control unit. The control unit is configured to recognize name information in the image provided by the scanner unit and acquire information indicating a destination for the image associated with the recognized name information. The control unit then transmits the image to the destination based on the information indicating the destination. For example, the destination may be one or more email addresses or a shared file folder or the like.
