For prototyping parameters of a scanning distance sensor and/or for prototyping software which processes the output of such sensor it is useful to model the sensor. The presented method of modelling a scanning distance sensor comprises that a model of the sensor and of one or more objects in the surroundings of the sensor is defined, the model including, for each of the sensor and the objects, information about its respective location and velocity in three-dimensional space. The method further comprises that, for at least one point in time, a set of detections is determined as if obtained by the sensor when scanning a field of view of the sensor, wherein each of the detections corresponds to a different line of sight originating from the sensor and comprises information about the orientation of the respective line of sight and about the distance of a respective target point from the sensor, the target point being the point in space where the line of sight first crosses any of the objects at the respective point in time. The method in particular comprises that the set of detections is modified by estimating the effect of sequentially scanning the field of view in discrete time steps on the detections and inversely applying the estimated effect to the set of detections. |

Among other things, we describe techniques for detecting objects in the environment surrounding a vehicle. A computer system is configured to receive a set of measurements from a sensor of a vehicle. The set of measurements includes a plurality of data points that represent a plurality of objects in a 3D space surrounding the vehicle. The system divides the 3D space into a plurality of pillars. The system then assigns each data point of the plurality of data points to a pillar in the plurality of pillars. The system generates a pseudo-image based on the plurality of pillars. The pseudo-image includes, for each pillar of the plurality of pillars, a corresponding feature representation of data points assigned to the pillar. The system detects the plurality of objects based on an analysis of the pseudo-image. The system then operates the vehicle based upon the detecting of the objects. |

The TPA device is inhibited from moving from the pre-staged position prior to the terminal insertion by interference between the TPA device (306, 1410, 1902, 2202) and the stop ridge. The TPA device (306, 1410, 1902, 2202) is inhibited from moving from the pre-staged position as the terminal is inserted into the terminal cavity by interference between the TPA device (306, 1410, 1902, 2202) and the terminal lock. The TPA device is allowed to move from the pre-staged position to the fully staged position after the terminal is fully seated within the terminal cavity and the terminal lock secures the terminal within the terminal cavity. |
