The application relates to transmitting control information to low complexity user equipment having a limited bandwidth receiver. A method performed at a network node of transmitting control information to low complexity user equipment is disclosed. The control information is transmitted within a predetermined limited frequency bandwidth that the low complexity user equipment is configured to receive. The method comprises: transmitting within the limited bandwidth, user specific control information during first predetermined time periods and non-user specific control information during second predetermined time periods, wherein the first and second time periods do not overlap; and transmitting within the limited bandwidth in response to a network connection request from the low complexity user equipment further control information, the further control information being transmitted during further predetermined time periods, the further predetermined time periods overlapping with at least one of the first and second time periods; wherein the further control information is transmitted in a different non-overlapping frequency range to the user specific and non-user specific control information. |

It is disclosed a an apparatus for compensating transmitter quadrature imbalances over an optical signal received at an optical coherent receiver of a node of an optical communication network. The optical signal comprises information symbols and pilot symbols. The receiver is configured to store a sequence of reference pilot symbols. The apparatus comprises an absolute phase estimating circuit configured to estimate a phase error between a received pilot symbol and a corresponding reference pilot symbol; a phase correcting module configured to remove the phase error from the received pilot symbol and a number of received information symbols associated with the received pilot symbol; a quadrature imbalance detection circuit configured to estimate the transmitter quadrature imbalances on the basis of at least the phase-corrected pilot symbol; and a quadrature imbalance compensation circuit configured to compensate the estimated transmission quadrature imbalances over the number of phase-corrected information symbols. |
