According to some embodiments, a method for use in a wireless device of performing radio resource management (RRM) measurements for mobility in a wireless network comprises obtaining a measurement configuration for measuring mobility signals in connected mode. The measurement configuration includes a reference signal type. The reference signal type indicates a particular type of reference signal of a plurality of possible reference signal types (e.g., PSS, SSS, DMRS, CSI-RS). The method further comprises configuring the wireless device to measure a reference signal of the indicated type; receiving the reference signal of the indicated type; and measuring the reference signal according to the measurement configuration. |

A method is provided to operate a CN node to determine UP security activation. A UP session establishment request is obtained for a wireless device. An indication is obtained that the UP session establishment request is associated with an emergency session and/or that null ciphering and/or null integrity protection are applied to a CP associated with a CP session for the wireless device. It is determined that a UP should be configured for the UP session without activating integrity and/or confidentiality protection for the UP based on the indication. A UP security policy is provided to a RAN node associated with the wireless device, wherein the UP security policy indicates to configure the UP for the UP session without activating integrity and/or confidentiality protection based on determining that a UP should be configured for the UP session without activating integrity and/or confidentiality protection. |

Systems and methods for uplink transmission timing are provided. In some embodiments, a method of operation of a wireless device in a cellular communications network includes receiving a transmission, from a network node, in a downlink slot; determining a reference uplink slot index in an uplink frame timing of the wireless device where the reference uplink slot index corresponds to the downlink slot in which the transmission was received; and transmitting an uplink transmission in response to the received transmission in an uplink slot a number of slots, K, after the determined reference uplink slot index. This may enable transmission in satellite radio access networks by establishing the transmission timing relationships that are suitable for long propagation delays and the large differential delay in a spotbeam in satellite communications systems that may range from sub-milliseconds to tens of milliseconds. |
